Healthy Snacks: Should You Offer Those in Your Retail Store?

According to the European Association for Study of Obesity (EASO), around 500 million people in the world are obese.

Being overweight or obese is one of the biggest issues at the moment especially in young adults and children. Normally working parents don't get the time to prepare healthy meals for themselves, let alone their children -- resulting in everyone resorting to junk food.

Junk food doesn't only mean dinning out at a fast food chain but also the non-nutritious snacks easily obtainable from every store. Regardless of how much the world talks about junk snacks and its ill effects, it's still the most popular food around, and hardly anyone is bothered.

Potato chips and chocolates are two of the most consumed snacks in the world, they are easily available at every retail shop or supermarket and aren't even burdensome on the pocket -- but their adverse effects on your health are unimaginable.

Solution to Unhealthy Snacks

Several types of research have been conducted over time, explaining the impact of the consumption of unhealthy snacks, but do we have a solution to this long-running problem?

The only solution in sight is healthy snacks.

Healthy snacks are high in fiber, low in calories and are commonly made up of fresh fruits, dry fruits, non-fat yogurt/cheese, etc. You get to see varieties of junk snacks everywhere; it’s about time that those snack racks start to offer healthy snacks, too.

According to Dr.Rita Redberg, a cardiologist at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, "nutrition really is the key to a healthy lifestyle and a healthy life. It goes a long way toward lowering the risk for heart disease and improving overall health”.

Healthy snacks are nutritious, resulting in you being fit, strong and keeps you going all day.

Revenue Factor

When stocking anything at a retail store, the ability of the product to generate revenue is obviously a huge factor.

There isn't much variety of healthy snacks, as there is of junk food. Therefore, they aren't as popular as the latter.

But for the sake of the society's health, if stores start to stock them, not only will they offer people a healthy alternative but would also make them popular; this will lead to a higher revenue generation in the future.
