Guerrilla Marketing for Retail Stores: Does It Work?

Let’s say you have a retail store selling suction cups. Considering the profit margin you would be making from these items, perhaps going all out advertising your business might be the last idea to cross your mind. Be that as it may, you wouldn't break a bone marketing your business, and I mean doing so through the Guerrilla tactics.

But, what is Guerrilla marketing?

Basically, this is a form of marketing that employs all tricks in the book. The question that many people would ask is, does it work? Simply put, it works like a clock, and the following are just some of the methods of achieving it.

Social Media

If you’re not active on social media, you have no idea what you’re missing out on. The entire globe is out there and what on earth are you doing outside of it?

This is the most powerful marketing tool that you can ever use. So get out there, and post everything related to your product and the deals related to your product. And it’s free. Is there anything better than free?

The flip side is that this method needn’t necessarily work to a great extent. However, note that if people would want to feel your product, this way might not work in your favor.

Support Local Community Events

There are two ways you can benefit by supporting local community events:

  1. If your premises are reasonably large, you can offer free space for various events. It could be for different events like a stage show, or a lecture to be conducted, or even marketing events. Give away samples during these events although you’re not directly involved in the event.
  2. The other way is to be part of a local community event. This is an excellent opportunity for you to spread awareness of your products within the neighborhood. Now, if your product is something of minimal use, you wouldn’t have people coming back for it. They’d just walk up to a store to see if they can get it there.

Campaign Through Your Premises

Your space is your billboard. That’s how you should think. Market your brand covering your entire space in every way that you can.

Street Graffiti Art

Street Graffiti Art is a very clever move provided it’s legal. With all its colors, it catches your attention for sure. If your art makes heads turn and if you can somehow plant awareness of what you want to market into that art, you’ve done your job.

Graffiti Art isn't legal in many places as you’d be violating public space. Generally, people wouldn’t raise an alarm unless it’s offensive. So you have to be careful when you engage in Street Graffiti Art.

However, if it’s your own property that you’re engaging Graffiti with and if it’s catchy, entertaining, and works in your favor, things should be just fine.

Final Thoughts

You have to be creative when it comes to Guerrilla Marketing. All you have to do is target the right people and use the right techniques. Guerrilla Marketing is a growing trend, and it definitely works!
